Apple crisp
1 cup sugar
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
Topping:
1 cup quick cooking oats
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
6 Tbsp cold butter
*1/2 cup chopped walnuts
*Vanilla ice cream
Combine first four ingredients in a large bowl with a lid and toss until apple slices are well coated. Pour into a greased 11 x 13 baking pan.
Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and optional walnuts if using; cut cold butter in with pastry blender until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm (*Ice cream optional, of course)
