Hello! Today is:

SEE WHAT'S NEW!

Apple Dumplings Hmmm-hmmm good!

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, a friend named Christina arrived with this little piece of heaven on earth at one of our homeschool meetings. I'm just one of many who begged for the recipe. She was happy to oblige.

I thought these were an original from a certain very popular food blogger but after reading comments from other blogs I realize this is a very, very old recipe and who knows the origin?  What's more - who cares - other than possibly to thank the individual who came up with such a delectable use for apples, crescent rolls, and Mountain Dew?

They're a snap and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Don't ask about the calories, okay? You really don't want to know.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 cans (8 Oz. Cans) Crescent Rolls
  • 2 sticks Butter
  • 1-½ cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Cinnamon, to taste
  • 1 can (12 Oz.) Mountain Dew Soda

Preparation Instructions

Peel and core apples.

Cut each apple into 8 slices each.

Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll.

 Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan.

Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir.

Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples.

Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan.

Sprinkle with cinnamon.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauces from the pan over the top.

WARNING: Prepare this dish at your own risk. It is beyond imaginable.
